For the Alliance!

November 2, 2009

Okay not really. I usually bat for the horde as a Blood Elf(Belf). Classes I play very, but primarily Priest and Death Knight. I’m such an alt whore on World of Warcraft. But I digress.  It was only a matter of time before my nerdom made its way into SL, and Halloween provided the perfect opportunity for it to flourish. Particularly when Plastik came out with skins for males. I had always admired Plastik’s skin, they are very well made. The level of detail is phenomenal. Well, Aikea Rieko has created a beautiful line of skins that are perfect for those guys, like myself that lean towards the more androgynous side of the looks department, and as luck would have it, she has created a perfect shade of pink to create a bishounen style Night Elf! Well now, to me these days playing on the alliance side is blasphemy, and in World of warcraft you unfortunately can’t create a pretty boy Night Elf (Nelf). Masquerading around on Halloween in this entire costume was absolutely fun, I felt like I could have been some sort of spy for the horde or something, if you note the Belf like armor.

Distinctive though it is, the skin is not the only thing that makes a Nelf a Nelf. You need the right hair, the right ears, the right everything if you’re going to recreate this intriguing race within Second Life. The hardest part would be finding the ears if for nothing else than matching the skin tone; but luckily Plastik offers matching ears with the uniquely colored skins, pre-matched. The next task in creating a Nelf within Second Life after you have your skin and ears and eyes, would be finding a suitable outfit. This is probably one of the more difficult things to do, especially if you’re male like myself. I initially wanted to find a druid outfit, but could find nothing suitable. So instead I went with armor.  My Nelf druid decided he wanted a class change and rerolled to be a Nelf warrior. The armor I’m wearing is not very Nelf like, but infact more Belf like. How did I manage this? Easy. I slaughtered a Belf and stole his armor!

So that is what I did for Halloween. I turned Plastik’s beautifully colored Vaelian skin into a Night Elf! Love me, hate me, hunt me down….I bat for the Alliance in Second Life! Or maybe I could bat for the Horde make a pretty boy orc or something…..now there’s a challenge.

Mixing things up

September 14, 2009

midionblog4I promise, I’ve not forgotten about this blog, nor will I be giving up on it! It just seems I’ve been going and getting myself so busy that I don’t have time to write a post! Sorry about that. So anyways, this post will be a quickie outfit of the day post.

As you all know I tend to sway towards gothic…quite a strong sway, well, I felt like doing something Different. I wanted to play with colors. The Mix tanks from A:S:S offer the perfect oppurtunity to mix things around, especially if you get the fat packs. Lot’s of options to be had. So, the look I decided to through together today was a bit of a toxic green raver. I never thought I could like myself in green. It is after all, one of my least favorite colors; but I just could not resist the green stars. They were just begging for me to play with them. So I did. And this was the result!

Totally NSFW

August 24, 2009

Warning: This Blog Post contains things considered NSFW and likely inappropriate for those under 18 years of age

Blogpic1

Alright,  mandatory warning out of the way, so now I can continue on with this post.  I have new panties! YAY! Umm, sorry, random cheering done, but anyways, these new panties are the topic of this post anyways, so I guess that cheer wasn’t so random after all. You’re probably thinking; “So what, he has new panties. What’s so special about them?”  Okay, so, there’s nothing all that special about them except that they come with a bulge and stuff, depending on which set you get. These bulges and panties and stuff were made for people with…tootsie rolls who wear skirts.

This first pair might be SFW, or NSFW, depending on your point of view, location, altitude and all that jazz.  The bits are covered in these ones at least, but because of the prim bulge you can clearly see the outline of Mr. Happy. This particular set is the “Trap Hawtshorts” set in the Trap bulge kit from Epi-Scene. It looks great, and the sculpt is very beautifully done and extremely detailed, especially for using just one prim for it. The textures are excellent and very detailed. The only con is, like with all things similar to this, it will need to be modified to your own personal tastes and what not, so yes! It’s modifiable! Also something I consider worth mentioning is for those of you inexperienced with modding prims, or even for the more advanced prim adjusters, it comes with a notecard with tips for adjusting your panty bulge. The bulge also comes in a variety of textures for you to use as well, wich makes it versatile if you have a pair of jeans you want to match them with so you can have some fun with, oh say, your significant other. I highly recommend these if for nothing else than the sheer versatility of it all. undies1

The next pair of underwear is from the “Knuckle Bulge” set, and okay, the name makes me snicker. I don’t know why, but it does.

knuckbulg

It’s beautifully sculpted as are all of the boy parts from Epi-scene. To be perfectly honest, I would cringe at thought of a prim bulge, especially when ever I saw one in use in SL. To me, they were the equivalent of prim boobs for men. It’s a bit more versatile and can be used in more everyday use as opposed to the Trap Bulge which to me feels like it should be for playtime or something like that. Where as I personally don’t use bulges in everyday use, if I were to, this would be it. It can be as discrete or as prominent as you want it to be.  Because they are modify and come with various textures(as all of the bulges in the bulge kits do) so you can match your bulge to a large variety of clothing. I’d say this one is definitely a multi-purpose bulge.  Also by comparison to other bulges I’ve seen on the market, these have a more realistic and natural feel to them. The one’s I have seen just seem to be ovals that leave alot to be desired, or too much..depending who you see them on and how they’re adjusted.knuckundiesThe next set I would say not to look at if even the slightest bit of nudity bothers you.

The Epi-scene “Peeky panties” are by far my favorite I must say. They have a very nice feminine cut to them. They’re also very cute, what with the bow and all. I like bows, so that could be effecting my bias, who knows. This set I think you should get only if you have the Epi-scene naughty bits, if for no other reason than consistency. I am extremely picky about consistency with things like the tootsie roll, and since it is actually peeking out of the underwear, well, yeah, I’m sure you can guess why I would suggest these only if you have their bits, or atleast plan on getting them soon after getting this one. Once again, these are modifiable, and easily tinted to go with any skin tone, okay so some tones may be trickier to get than others, but they are still achievable! A downside to this however, is to those of you whom prefer to be uncut. There is not an uncut version of this. However, if you’re good with modding, and have the Epi-scene naughty bits I can see it being possible to take the foreskin from that to modify it onto this.

undiespeek

I think I’ve been fair in warning about nudity, but I shall warn you again anyways, considering this next segment is not just partial nudity. It’s full frontal. You have been warned…

Now that you’ve been warned and what not, you’ve probably guessed out that this last segment is about peen.  Well, that guess would be correct.  A penis? So what? Just about every guy in SL, and some ladies have one. So what’s special about it, and why blog about it? Well, yes, there are alot of peens in SL,  alot to choose from, however, if you’re on the more feminine side, the ones generally available are too masculine and beastly, like they’d belong on a body builder, minus the steroids.  Yes, resizing is possible with all, or atleast most, but there are limits on them, and often when you shrink them past their presets, the revert back to their preset size, ontop of that, the texturing doesn’t exactly say cute, And that is where Epi-scene comes in. They’ve created very cute peens for cross-dressers and females wanting bits that aren’t very intimidating. The Epi-scene naughty bits are very nicely textures and sculpted in a way that will make you go “Awe, cute penis”. A rare phrase indeed, but it does accurately sum up the Epi-scene naughty bits.

Epi-scene has put in a few nifty features with their naughty bits, wich includes 4 different states of happy, toggle piercing, several different color textures, and a very easy to use hud; and because there are a variety of textures, these bits are very easy to tint and adjust to any skin tone. Oh, and there’s also optional foreskin to those of you who prefer the uncut tootsie rolls! Sorry to those of you who prefer to click, these aren’t scripted to give pre-written message like other brands. This could be downer to some, but a bonus and blessing to others, like me. I’ve never been a fan of pre-written things anyways. I don’t even like answering Machines because they’re pre-recorded messages. I’m weird like that. I also will not recommend this to those more on the butch masculine side of life either. It just wouldn’t look right in my opinion. It is, after all, a more feminine penis. Oh look! More words rarely, if ever uttered in the same sentanced in reference to one another! Anywas, getting back on track. I find very few flaws with this item. The only flaw is that it doesn’t work universally on every avatar type, but that can be quite easily said about other naughty bits. So I suppose that does not really count as a flaw. It’s very clear the designer put a lot of time, effort and care into creating this adorable item.

In short, I am very impressed by the design and quality of these itemss and highly recommend the Epi-scene products to anyone who is wanting naughty bits that fall in a less masculine category. Also, should note, sorry ladies, they don’t sell fun holes.

Down and Dirty

August 17, 2009

Alright, I said I was back in the previous post, yet it’s been a week, and you all are, I’m sure, wondering “Where the hell is this next post he promised us!?” Well, it’s right here! This time, I’m working kind of a grungy look, but sorta on the clean cut side of grunge…if that makes any sense…which I doubt it does. Oh well. I have to say I’m liking this outfit. Alot. It’s cute and sexy, and it’s perfect for cross-dressers who want to be more edgy than prissy. Not a bad look for you ladies out there either! This particular outfit is a mish-mash of quite a few things, obviously. First piece I had gotten was the Lament set from the Black Canary. It is an absolutely exquisite set. Perfect for nobles and vampires alike. Or, in this case, grunge! Wait what?! The Black Canary in a grunge set?! How can this be?! Well..I the piece I used was the Jacket, it covers the shoulders beautifully and goes great with tank tops, such as the one I am wearing with this outfit from Spice and Sugar. It’s the ripped tank in pink. And if you’re wondering at all what it says, it says “I’ve fallen out of love.” Okay, so false advertising there on my part, but oh well. This tank top is irresistible! And if you’re a layer whore like I am, you’ll be pleased to know that this tank top comes in all layers! So you can go crazy mixing this with other pieces in your closets! Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about the hair and collar! Those of you whom know me well enough, should know that I am absolutely in lust with collars. Does this mean I’m into BDSM? Well…that’s really a secret that I shall leave you wonder. Insert evil laughter and coughing here.  Anyways, back to the outfit. I purchased this collar from ::KSI:: They sell alot of absolutely wonderfully made items, targeted towards furries and nekos, but still fantastic none the less! They have some of the best baggy pants in Second Life; but I digress. Why am I wearing this collar with this outfit? Well, why not? It needed something, and this particular item just seemed to finish it up and tie it all together. As for the hair, it’s my new hair from Exile. Yeah, surprise surprise, I bought more hair! As if I don’t have enough, right? One can never have too many hair styles in their inventory in my opinion, but then again, that could just be the hair slut in me talking! Why this hair? Well, it’s definitely unruly, the uneven cut, the way it frames my face…I love it. The entire cut in itself seemed to be perfect for grungy anyways so, that’s how it made it’s way into this ensemble. The wrist cuffs, are just fun and one of my favorite accessories, so why not just toss them in? They worked amazingly well in this outfit along with the fishnet gloves. So not much to say about that bit. Oh and, I have an obsession with fishnet, so be prepared to see quite a few outfits using them. Unoriginal? Maybe. Sexy? Hell yes! But once again, I digress and move on to the skirt.  Frilly, short, and awesome. The texturing is beautiful, the design is gorgeous and it’s extremely well made.

There is some beautifully done corset stitching on the back of the skirt wich I couldn’t resist. This piece is definitely a must have for more outfits than just a cutesy grungy outfit. Oh the fun I plan to have in…and possibly…well..in this skirt. And this is where I begin to day dream and slap myself back to focusing on blogging. Yeah, I have focus issues. So what? Moving on downward to the stockings. Every cross-dresser or woman needs a pair of stockings with runs in them. Yes, needs.  Nope, don’t wanna hear how they’re no good if they have runs in them. Won’t hear any of that.  It’s time to put those ruined stockings and tights to use! Besides, no grunge outfit using a skirt is complete without ruined stockings anyways. Now, down to the boots. I recently purchased these at Dark Eden. Have to admit, I was kind of iffy on them from the picture, mostly the texturing worried me, but decided, what the hell, they were affordable, and boy, was I pleasently surprised. These boots are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The textures definitely exceeded my expectations, and I love it when things I get do that. So that just makes them better for me I suppose.  And last but not least, the skin.

Unfortunately it’s no longer available. It’s the Trashoween in marble from Excess which was only available during October last year. It came with a black make-up and a purple make-up version. I am wearing the purple, because I felt like adding color to my pale as dead pallor. Besides, I don’t get a chance to use this skin often enough. It was time to take it out for a spin, and quite frankly, I love the make up on this one, and somehow, it just seemed to work very well with this outfit, so I kept it on.

Wow…not all that much left to say about this outfit. Now, go dig into your closets and dig out those old and dirty clothes and have fun!

Sunsetvamp

I’ve been inactive in blogging for quite awhile, I apologize for that. I won’t make some common excuse that everyone uses about the real, or first life if you prefer, in that so many people use. Granted, I don’t doubt any of those cases to be true mind you. My reasons, however, are simple. I indeed have been busy and caught up in quite a few other projects recently. Some of wich, alright you caught me, most of wich have involved the Hoof it horses. Yeah yeah, Im still addicted to the horse thing.  I not so recently (anymore) purchased one of their quadruped full sized horse avatars. Most of my time has gone into that quite honestly. I have been making textures for the avatars, as well as some accessories such as armor and the other project, one of wich I shared with my partner Darion was creating a new garden. I may post pictures of that some other time. These mods have been very entertaining, and…well….a drug to me, so I’ve neglected posting on this blog, because well, it’s supposed to be a fashion blog, but, I’m considering expanding it to include some of my various activities in Second Life, since I’ve had so many varied things going on other than fashion.  I’ve also made myself a new shape, wich started from one of my other projects.  Why and how? Because, I picked up an anthro cat avatar, was customizing that quite a bit, and it turned out quite adorable mind you. However, it used one of the famed boob crusher shapes. I wasn’t a fan of those in the past to be perfectly honest. Most male shapes created from the female base end up looking…well….can we say child birth and -A cups? What Im saying is, it’s usually painfully obvious that it was a shape created from the female base, and I am not dissing anyone who uses or used those types of shapes. In fact, like I said, my new shape is a boob crusher; but I digress. I felt that my more human shape was…err….rather bulky and awkward, since I had been using the kitty for quite some time, and it felt like it was time for a change. I’ve said before that I’d never change my shape. Now I know why the saying is “Never say Never”. So, anyways, I couldn’t get my male based shape to be any smaller without looking anorexic and…stupid, so I caved and decided to have a go at the female based male shapes. Mission successful, if I may be so vain. I quite like the face much better than on my original shape. By comparison, I must say, I looked ogre-ish. Unfortunately, the old shape also didn’t quite work with my cat avatar’s AO. Wich was rather unfortunate, because I adore it. It turned out diabetic to say the least. Heart. Atleast my new shape works it quite well I must say.jerichosteed1 I’ve also made yet a new skin/mod for my Warrior horse to go with my new vampiric side. His name is Jericho. Now that you’ve met my new steed, time to get back on track. The point of this post was majorly just to say Hi, I’m back, I’m sorry I’ve been so busy and making a blog post was quite honestly the last thing on my mind.  So, I’ll leave you with some pictures.hellotwilight14vampsmSo, It’s late, I’m tired, I’m not going to bother posting where I got what. Sorry folks. Next post I will, promise.

Ridingpen

I have a new horse…okay…not all that new anymore. I’ve had her almost a week now; and it’s been alot of fun riding her around the grid. I think I went a little crazy with it, but who cares, I’ve been having fun! So, I built her a paddock, and stuff. I’ve also been having fun modding her. I now have several different versions of my horse, I call her Nadine. I won’t get into details about how she got that name, but let’s call it a special memorial or tribute, or something like that.  Where the hell did I get a horse in Second Life some of you might ask. Well, truth is there’s alot of different places to buy horses, there’s AKK, Hoof it, Lonestar Ranch, etc; But where did I get mine? Well, I went with Hoof it! They had a horse that reminded me quite a bit of a certain real life horse, and with some modding, I got her as close to identical as possible between SL and real life. Besides, no offense to you other equine designers, you’re all very skilled, but Hoof it just fit my personal tastes alot more aside from the fact the one I purchased for aforementioned reasons.Percheron

Hoof it has a variety of horses, several breeds, and various colors to choose from. The horse I personally went with was the one called Warrior. The over all build of this model reminds me of a Percheron. I was always a fan of draft horses. Warrior also originally came with armor, but I did modify mine quite a bit, and that included removing the armor.

So I guess you could say this was a slight bonus, but definitely not the selling point for me. I was highly impressed by the over all quality of the horses, and the animations and fantastically fun. Granted, the gaits  aren’t perfectly realistic, this is Second Life, there is only so much one can do, and Hoof it definitely worked well with what the Lindens gave us! The animated legs really did impress me. Very smooth transition between each movement. Granted, this smooth transition will be effected depending on how laggy the area you are in is, and if you cross into a script disabled area, your horse could end up looking kind of…funky. Oh SL…how we love your quirks, but I digress. These horses are a lot of fun, and just as addictive as fishing, you can even fish from horse back! Wich I found absolutely hilarious. I can do two things that entertain me at once, Cheers! Once again, getting off track here.

Showtime

Apart from the horses, Hoof it also sells accessories to go with your horse, from show gear, to the basic care.  I admit, before I bought the riding clothes from Hoof it, I looked around a bit. There’s really not that much riding gear in SL I  noticed after looking for some riding attire. So I bought a pair of charcoal jodhpurs to start with, and was definately impressed by the accuracy and quality of the pants. So awhile later, I bought the boots….then the helmet…and then…finally…the Hunter show outfit. It only came with the red Jacket, so I then bought the black jacket seperately. Hey, a man has to have variety! The model for the jackets on the single piece vendor may be female, but guys, don’t be afraid of getting your jackets. There is no shading on these clothes that would even remotely give you tatas.

hunteroutfitThis outfit is very elegant, then again, of course it is, it’s a hunter outfit. Those always look elegant, even in real life. Well, atleast to me they do. But as I mentioned before, this is a very accurate hunter outfit, wich was the biggest selling point to me, and the quality is definitely better than I had expected.  I love the details on the entire thing. Especially the helmet though. I admit, in real life, I never wore a riding helmet, (shame on me!) so I never expected I’d want to wear one even in Second Life after I got my horse, but then I figured, oh why the hell not, could be fun! I was right. It was fun. I don’t go riding without it unless Darion and I are going trail riding, then I may take it off. It is beautifully sculpted and textured. The boots are nice as well, but admittedly not my favorite item from Hoof It. They are very well done, but I think they could be just a bit better, but like I said, I still like them alot regardless, and I definitely don’t go riding without them. Okay..I may ride without them when I’m roleplaying or something that requires me to not wear my equestrian gear.

I also had to mod some hair to fit the helmet perfectly, but Hoof it does sell some helmets with hair included. I personally wanted to use one of my favorite hair styles with my helmet though.

Fallen

June 8, 2009

I have to admit,  I’ve been on a huge fantasy kick lately. I can’t explain why other than it’s been incredibly fun mixing up some new outfits, plus I’ve been flooded with ideas. My brain has been my friend lately….atleast in that respect. Also, I must apologize for waiting so long to post. I’ve been lazy about it. Then again I’m lazy about everything, and I suck at keeping a schedule, so, there will never be any schedule or deadline between my posts. Sorry folks. Anyways, this time I am posting sort of a yin and yang thing I guess. An angel and a Fallen angel. Special thanks to my partner, Darion, for being the fallen angel, and he makes such a nice one too. Of course, I’m probably being bias here, but who cares? Anyways, moving back to the themed stuff.  This theme and photo shoot was awesomely fun. Besides, I’d been wanting to do a light and dark thing for ages…just been..yes…lazy about it. I also had  a short story going through my head the entire time we were doing these pictures, but I won’t post it. Sorry. For one, I havn’t actually written it…yet. I may some day, or I may not, don’t know yet, but the song Even Angels fall by The Cruxshadows does come to mind here; and I Actually…have a lot less to say about this than I thought I would… So let’s just say this post is just for showing off some photography.

So…I guess you should just enjoy the pictures! ;)

The last one is probably my favorite out of this photoshoot. I just like how it came out.

Double Time

June 2, 2009

bathingdragon2It’s been a few days since my last blog post. What with all the hunts…and all of the inspirations for avatars…I know what you all are thinking…”thought this was about androgynous fashion, not costumes?” Well…you’re right, blog is about androgyny, so you know, why not post costumes? They can be androgynous. So this is the point where I grin and stick my tongue out at you all. I have a couple of things to share with you though. So you have a lot of reading to do..if you actually read this anyways. Some of you may be here for all the pictures for all I know.  So, moving on.

The first outfit I am going to share was a challenge given to me by someone. I have to say, it was a hell of a lot of fun to put this avatar together. It’s a dragon…a Time Dragon to be more specific. The challenge was given to me by a friend, and as you should all be aware of by now…I love challenges, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shop of course. The most stress inducing part of this was finding the skin.  It wouldn’t have been so hard to find a skin if I had wanted to be a stereotypical anthro dragon. I wanted to do something like my Alicorn, and that is why it was such a task. Traversing across SL in search of a skin I knew existed, but didn’t know where to get it. I have to say, I did see it on someone some time ago, and I loved it. I did not ask them at the time where to get it, and I was kicking myself in the hind-end for not doing so now. I was lucky enough to be able to track the person down to ask however, and I am sincerely grateful to them for sharing with me where they got this skin (equally thankful to the designer for creating it!). The pack this skin came in is absolutely amazing. It has a vast array of color options, so you can really have a blast deciding what type of dragon you want to be and since the skin is from Grendel’s you know it’s quality and affordable!  I am probably going to have fun tossing stuff together with the other colors eventually myself. It is just way too much fun.  When it comes to customizing things, particularly characters, I am like a kid in a candy store; or a bull in a china store…depends on your perspective.dragonwhite

Finding suitable attire for this was a challenge as well, but I knew it had to be something regal, and it had to be a silk or something similiar. I know a few silk shops, and frequent them, and it’s no secret I love silks, but that is beside the point. It took me awhile to decide on one, and then I finally brought my window shopping to Haven Designs, they have quite a few silks that are just amazing for this sort of thing, and well alot of other stuff in general.

timedragon

Even with the silk however, something was still missing…so I went jewelry shopping. Tekel’li makes absolutely amazing fantasy jewelry, it was extremely hard to decide what to get….if I could, I would have just bought the entire store! They also sell hair and other things…and from what I saw of the hair…it’s stunning…chances are…I’ll be returning to check it out further myself.

punkfaeAs promised, a second costume to post…though this has became more of “usual” look than a costume, simply because of how enjoyable the entire outfit and concept is….well and I absolutely adore this skin.  Deciding on a color, that was task…skin tone not so much. I love being pale, and I love that TRAP gives you quite a few skin tones to pick from when you’re buying your skin. They really do have an excellent variety. The color selection in the Koi collection is no exception. They really put alot of colors out for this skin. Personally, I went with the fire and ice pack because I fell in love with the Ice coloring. I liked the storm one as well, but, hey, I like wearing blue. Think that goes back to me rezzing this avatar in world as a blue fairy…who knows, that’s not important now.

What is important is getting back to the topic at hand before I get far to side tracked with minor details that become unrelated….I tend to do that alot. Go figure. So, back ontopic. I love the amount of detail that they put into this skin. The tattoos on the head even are very well done and absolutely fun to show off.   Finding a hairstyle would have been a task if I hadn’t already bought hair just a few hours earlier that I liked alot….had no idea what I’d do with it at the time, then I decided to go skin shopping, and well, the rest is history.Koifair4

This hair worked amazingly well for the look I wanted. Mind you, I did mod the hair a bit to make it an actual mohawk. The hair came from Exile….the have an awesome selection of  unique styles.  Anyways…the over all look I was going for with this outfit was a punk fairy…I think I succeeded personally…some may disagree, but who cares? If you’re happy with your look, that’s really all that matters. You’ll always have your critiques, everyone does, but the important thing to keep in mind when putting anything together, whether it’s an avatar, a story, a picture, whatever, you should always remain true to your own visions and style regardless of any negative thing someone might have to say. Hell, everyone’s a critique..we all critique everyone and everything…it’s human nature. Okay preachy moment done. Just felt like I had to say that for some reason. Oh well. Moving back onto the subject.  I love this outfit,  and at the risk of sounding completely and utterly full of myself, I love the concept I came up with. Punk Fairies aren’t exactly common, and I love being unique.  And I am done babbling about my two latest outfits. What? I didnt say much about the fairy? Oh well..I promised two costumes, not two novels. *wink wink*

Neigh I say

May 30, 2009

Today I am posting about another “costume”. Though this one wasn’t particularly inspired so much as wanting to have a unique “furry” without having to use all the prims and what not that usually go into it. alicorn Ontop of that, there really isn’t a huge selection of equine furries in Second life.

Wich sort of makes me a wee bit sad. Okay, enough with the emo and on with the blogging! I wanted something not many people go for as far as equine coloring goes. I wanted a pinto. It’s no secret horses are my favorite animal, and I love all equine colors and patterns, don’t get me wrong, but an Overo pinto seemed to really stand out to me as the perfect choice for this avatar of mine. It’s a pattern that’s largely over looked, and it is one of my favorites on real life horses. So, it seemed pretty obvious to me what I should go for exactly….now finding the stuff wasn’t easy. Rather, when I was putting the avatar together I remembered where I could find some equine targeted markings, so I quickly hopped over there and snagged the overo as soon as I noticed they had it! I did however go through a couple different skins and demos before finding the perfect one to go with the entire look.

alicorn1 All in all it was a very fun avatar to put together, and gallop around the grid in. So, I wasn’t entirely happy with just being a “horse” I wanted to take it a few steps up, so this avatar became a unicorn…then I decided..nah…still missing something! So I stabbed wings into the arms and voila! The Alicorn avatar was born!  I’ll admit though, this avatar has been tweaked just slightly since it’s creation…new hooves, new hair, a new horn…and that’s pretty much it. You may be asking yourself why not just go with wings on your back? Why have wings on your arms? Heh, and in response to that, you’d get a why the hell not? From me. I think it’s pretty unique and original, so why should I go with the mainstream? Not dissing the mainstream thing, but it’s totally not my scene. Sorry guys. Besides, you get too far into mainstreamness then you really lose what makes SL so much fun, and that’s the creativity of it all. There is so much that you can do with your look in SL, it’s really amazing, so why stick to what everyone else does? I say break free, have fun with your own look! Experiment. I always experiment, and my avatar constantly changes….whether it  is as minor as a new hair style, or as drastic as a completely new skin and body parts…though the only thing that never changes is my actual shape. I like that too much to change it. Oh and I like fluffy tails, so this avatar is an awesome excuse to have a fluffy tail. Plus, if I step on someone’s toes in this avatar I can just say;  “Hey, that’s what ya get for not having me on a lead line!” or something. I dunno. Oh what fun I have in this avatar. That maybe sounded sarcastic, but couldn’t be further from the truth!

alicorn2I really love these eyes with this avatar. They really stand out with this “monochrome” look and really breaks up the monotony of the black and white. I could have gone with brown eyes, but I love horses with blue eyes, so, why shouldn’t I go with blue eyes for my Alicorn? And this has been a really narcissist post brought to you by the Clathi Altneu corporation…..we make chocolate cookies go yum. Mmm..I love sweets…

Tribal Fairy

May 28, 2009

tribal What? Another post already?! Yeah..another post. I’ve been very inspired lately. So…for awhile it seems like I will be posting once a day, maybe more…maybe less. Depends on my mood. Oh you poor souls…you have no idea the torture I am going to put you through…making you listen to my ramblings about my clothes and costumes and what not, okay so maybe not just my clothes and costumes…who knows what I’ll post! Today, however, I will be posting about an outfit that was inspired by the lovely Jewelry designs of Miss Brandy Rasmuson of Shine. I call it a “Tribal Fairy”. You on the other hand may call it whatever you want. It was a fun look to attempt to pull off. From finding the right hair, down to the perfect skin for the look. If you’re interested in fantasy roleplay, this could be a fun idea to spin with if you want to be a fairy that favors the autumnesque coloring. I have to admit, it was difficult deciding what hair color to go with…brown or black? Oh the decisions! So I just went with black…it never fails me. Then again, Black seems to be my default hair color more or less.  Some of you might be asking “But Clathi? Why a fairy for this post?”. The answer is simple. When I rezzed this avatar in world, he was a fairy, so I’m going back to my roots so to speak, though I was more of an Ice-fairy than an wood fae. Why does this matter to you? Well, it doesn’t, but it sure is fun to ramble on and on about this sort of stuff! So continuing back on with the outfit! I’m going to break this one down for you piece by piece, so maybe you’ll get an idea of how  I put all my outfits together anyways. The principle is always the same. I am all about coordination, so I am explaining the coordination of this costume in this post.

I’ll start from my head and work my way down from there.Headshotforblog

Let’s really begin with the hair. It’s got a dark contrast, which to me seems to really bring out the shade of green and shape of the eyes pretty  well. It has the “bangs” pulled back so that you can really see the details of the face paint on the skin, which I really love showing off.It has a good length…shoulder length. Always fun. The shade of black also really contrasts the red of the face paint very well. Contrast is very important in a good outfit in my opinion..and..yeah yeah I say this alot, but it is FUN! Back the style itself though, it just has this real nice tribal feel to me, so it fit in very well with the concept of this wood fae. Now, the skin itself. Why did I choose this skin? Well, why not? It’s an awesome skin, beautiful details, and the face paint…it is really just amazing and essential for this look. If I did not use this skin, I doubt this particular costume would even work at all! Besides, I like the cute pouty  “But I wanted that cookie..” look it gives my face. And the two dots…just so unique…well the whole skin design itself is really unique. Why Go tan? Well…it’s a wood fae…so my interpretation of wood elves and wood fae, well they need to have an earthy look to them, and how much more earthy can you be when you’re a bit tan? Now, moving back to the eyes, why green? Well you need to have a pop of color somewhere, so why not have fun popping the color in your outfit with your eyes? Green is a very earthy color, it makes one think of nature, so it was hands down the only choice in my eyes…heh…I made a pun..oops. Now..moving down to the necklace… a gorgeous piece that really inspired the entire look period. It’s definitely a fun and earthy design,  and not much to say other than it really tied this outfit together. Without it, Something would be missing of course. So people, remember, accessorize! Accessories can make or break any outfit or look you’re going for. You should always keep that in mind.

wingsforblogNow I’ll turn around for you so you can see the wings…okay so I’m on my knees too…heh…get your minds out of the gutter now! Oh who  am I kidding? Keep them there! I enjoy the company.

So, these wings as you can see are a very lovely set. Very striking design without being over-powering to the over-all look. You never want any piece to over power an entire outfit, well unless of course it’s intentional, then by all means, go for it! However, in this sort of specific appearance you want things to have a very flowing natural feel; and I think these wings are perfect for it. They have a very elegant shape, multiple earthen shades ranging from brown to green, which really tie in well with the earthy green of the eyes seen earlier. There’s not much I can see about this other than, it really matches everything and fits in perfectly. So let’s move on to the outfit itself.

It can be difficult deciding what to wear when you are going for a specific race, especially when going for a particular subculture for that race, then again that’s what makes putting together an outfit so much fun. The challenge. I love challenges. So what I did here, I went with a loin clothed ensemble. This particular one came with everything. Yes, even the boots! So it’s not that hard to find really. Why not break it up like I do with numerous other outfits? Why should I when it all works so perfectly well together? The shade of brown works amazingly well with this skin tone and the wings. The details are simply gorgeous and very fitting..then again, what would expect from an outfit called “Druid”?  The prim part of the armbands are from the same jewelry set as the necklace, and they accented the glove layer bracers very well. All in all, the moral of the story is go with the flow and have fun with your look!
